Daniel Ashley House Historic Rehabilitation . Valdosta, GA

November 2015

The Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program recognized the City of Valdosta with the Adaptive Reuse Award for the re-purposing of an existing structure for affordable housing units. The staff of Studio 8 Design worked with developer, IDP Housing, to survey existing conditions, develop construction documents, and provide rehabilitation design while maintaining the historic integrity of the building. The project restored a valued Valdosta landmark.

CrossPointe Church Ground Breaking

Ground Breaking Held For New CrossPointe Church . Valdosta, GA

October 2015

CrossPointe Church held the ground-breaking for their new sanctuary on October 18th. To be built off Highway 41 North on Kings Way in Valdosta, the design for the new Church includes a 1,200 seat sanctuary, a 400 seat auditorium, classrooms, and office space. Studio 8 Design and Cauthan Construction worked with CrossPointe to develop a contemporary design for the church. Construction will begin in January 2016.

Davis Hall Groundbreaking

Davis Hall Ground Breaking At South Georgia State College . Douglas, GA

August 2015

Studio 8 participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of historic Davis Hall on the campus of South Georgia State College in Douglas. Studio 8 is providing architectural design for this project. State and local dignitaries, College officials, and members of the design and construction team each spoke on the importance of providing the needed space to support the programs and growing student body at South Georgia State College. Studio 8 is excited to watch the transformation of Davis Hall get underway!

Scintilla Ribbon Cutting

Scintilla Charter Academy Holds Ribbon Cutting . Valdosta, GA

August 2015

Governor Nathan Deal spoke to a huge crowd at a ribbon cutting ceremony of Scintilla Charter Academy. This new 36,687 SF school serves 480 students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The Academy has a total of 29 classrooms including two special education classrooms. The administrative building has offices and support areas for administrators and teachers. The building is designed in a hybrid Craftsman style using wood construction.

Studio 8 Holds Ribbon Cutting and Business After Hours . Valdosta, GA

August 2015

Studio 8 Design hosted the Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours Event in August welcoming the entire Valdosta  business community as well as Studio 8's friends, colleagues, and business associates. The event was themed "Winnersville Football" with season tickets to our local football teams given as door prizes.

Laura Yale

Laura Yale Joins Studio 8 Design

August 2015

Studio 8 welcomes Laura Yale to the firm. Laura graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. She is experienced in the development of interior layouts, finish selections and space planning. She provides interior concepts and renderings for the firm.  Laura is also experienced in ornamental horticulture and serves on the City of Valdosta's Tree Commission.

Studio 8 Design Moves To Iconic Building Designed By Jim Ingram And Dan Parris In 1980

June 2015

Studio 8 Design initiated a project earlier in 2015 to move the firm's office to 2722 N. Oak Street.  The building was designed by architects Jim Ingram (of Studio 8) and Dan Parris in 1980, and served as the architects' home for over 20 years.  Many of the founders of Studio 8 began their careers under the guidance of Jim and Dan in this office on Oak Street. Studio 8 restored the interior to its original functionality - with a few modern twists including our favorite - "The Pilots Lounge."

Ground Breaking Held At New Jenkins County Jail . Millen, GA

Jim Ingram of Studio 8 took part in the recent ground breaking ceremony held in Millen, Georgia for the New Jenkins County Jail.  Designed to meet the County's need for a secure and efficient facility, Jim's design provides 55 inmate beds at a cost of approximately $3.5 million.  (photo credit: The Millen News)

Scintilla Charter Academy Groundbreaking

Scintilla Charter Academy Breaks Ground . Valdosta, GA

January 2015

Scintilla Charter Academy broke ground on January 21st.  The new K-5 school will serve 480 students.  Studio 8 worked with the stakeholders of the project to ensure an engaging and collaborative learning environment for students.
