New Egg Laying Facility
MOUNT VERNON, GA - This agricultural project was designed for the Georgia Department of Corrections to replace an outdated egg laying operation. The new complex includes the following elements: Three Laying Houses; an Egg Packing House; a Cooler; Feed Mill; Feed Bins; Storage; Waste Collection; Loading Dock; Offices; and a Shop. The operation supports 120,000 hens in three laying houses with required support for the healthy management of the birds. The facility includes automated systems for conveying eggs to packaging, cooling and transporting. Other automated systems include a feed mill with grinding, mixing, receiving and distribution of food. This type of facility includes specialized mechanization and equipment and required coordination between the designer and equipment supplier to establish effective processes ensuring the sustained health of the poultry and preservation of egg quality.
