Highland Terrace Apartments

COLUMBUS, GA - Studio 8 provided comprehensive architectural, engineering and construction administration for this new affordable housing community located in Columbus, GA. Designed to house seniors 62 years of age and older, the design includes four residential buildings. Amenities include a community building with a community/social room, wellness center, gazebo, on-site laundry, furnished fitness center, and washer/dryer hook-ups in each unit. The fitness center includes physical therapy equipment and space to allow on-site therapeutic visits by rehab specialists. Office space is provided for volunteer workers to provide assistance to residents in matters such as Medicare and mental health referrals. The community was built to EarthCraft certification standards and includes high SEER HVAC systems and Energy Star appliances.

The area surrounding the new community is economically disadvantaged, but Highland Terrace will serve as a catalyst of positive change and engages several agencies to ensure this happens. Community partners include Neighborhood Works Columbus, Truth Spring, Inc., Mercy Medical, Bennett Group Consulting, and River Valley Area Agency on Aging.
