Southfork Apartments Renovation and Additions

CAMILLA, GA - Studio 8 provided comprehensive architectural, engineering and construction administration for this project. Southfork Apartments are located in Camilla in southwest Georgia. The project included the renovation of 80 existing units and a small leasing office plus the addition of 16 one-bedroom apartments. This increased the overall unit count to 96 with a total square footage of 109,204.

The existing units were completely renovated with new wood cabinets, low VOC carpet, flooring, modern efficient fixtures, ceiling fans, low-e windows and doors. New high efficiency HVAC systems were installed to reduce energy consumption. Each kitchen received new appliances with Energy Star refrigerators and dishwashers. The exteriors received new fiber cement hardi-plank siding and architectural element changes to fit the historic character of Camilla. The existing brick was cleaned and repointed to look new. The buildings received new roofs with higher quality shingles and insulation. The existing buildings were brought into compliance per Fair Housing regulations. The leasing office was improved with new interiors and exteriors to reflect the same architectural language as the apartment units. It was also improved for residents to use as a true community center with gathering areas, laundry, and business center.
