Telfair County Law Enforcement Center

MILAN, GA - The County purchased an existing youth detention center from the City of Milan to modify and renovate for the sole purpose use of the Telfair County Sheriff's Department for housing prisoners for the County. The facility is located adjacent to the existing Sheriff's Office. Components of the project include inmate housing (112 beds) with six classification areas. There is no visibility between day rooms. The facility is designed in accordance with ACA and GSA Standards. Visitation is handled in a separate, small building with no physical contact between inmates and visitors; video visitation is provided. A Nurses Station includes exam rooms, and drug storage. Food service is provided through existing food services located in the existing Sheriff's Office building. The Booking area is accessed through a new sally port and provides eight (8) isolation cells. There is space for inmate property as well. The new, covered sally port includes electronically controlled gates. The project was constructed using a Design/Build approach
